Oh to be rich, loaded, and money to burn! I wish that were the case for me. Not so that I could be a snob or anything like that, but so that I could travel and see the world. That is something I am determined to do by the time I die, so make sure I do it if you’re reading this!
My grandparents owned a travel agency for a while until it went under; Grandpa and Grandma Paxman. Grandma still to this day talks about all the places she was able to see around the world and I wished I had the luxury of that. She does tell me however, to stay away from Jamaica because she swears on it that it’s “dirty” and dangerous. But I’d go anyway, just to say that I have.
I wonder where to even start with my travel wish list. I have always fantasized of Europe. I seriously adore everything about it! Well, I’ve never been there but I am sure I would. I want to go to England, to Germany, France (Paris), Scotland, and Italy. The list goes on too, but I don’t want to embarrass myself by naming a country that is not in Europe claiming that it is. Something about Europe has always intrigued me. It seems to be a place of beauty and magic in the air. That trip will happen one day sooner or later. Mark my words.
I want to go to South America and visit all of the countries there. Brazil is a place I want to visit because that is where Tanner served his mission and he talks about it and how much he loved it there. He loves the people there and wants to return one day; I will go with him. There was a year that my parents weighed heavily into taking my older brother and I to Bolivia, along with themselves of course, but the government was too dangerous and corrupt to go. I want to go to Bolivia one day though, and my mother will have to be with me because my mom was a missionary there. She still gets emotional talking about the love and connection she feels for those people. I have heard stories about what life is like there, and I would love to go help in anyway that I can and to meet those sweet souls who changed my mom’s entire outlook and perspective on life.
My dad was called to Finland for his mission. I want to go with him there and explore everything. I want to learn what the people are like, and see all of earth’s natural beauties it has to offer.
Sweden peeks my interest for a couple of reasons. Growing up, we had these wonderful family friends, the Mayos, who were Swedish. They always intrigued me because they are some of the best people I know, so happy and always wanting to travel to their home country of Sweden. I would love to see what they have shared verbally with me, first hand! Also, when I was a little girl, my dad heavily considered taking a job in Sweden for a few years. I would have loved to have gone and seen and experienced a different culture and implement it into my own life.
Australia has been calling my name for as long as I can remember! The beaches, the hot sunshine, and the kangaroos are all going to become familiar with me sometime sooner or later. I am going to go “Down Under.”
Now for those of you who have or are reading all of my memoir, you should know that Costa Rica holds a very special place near and dear to my heart forever. I think my heart would literally break if I never went back to see my favorite spot in the entire world. Words cannot describe nor express how much I love Costa Rica. Costa Rica is hands down the prettiest place in the world. Its sunsets are spectacular, its people are the happiest in the world (literally this is a proven fact), and the culture is just so relaxing and stress free. I will return there, and hopefully I will go there often and eventually be able to bring my whole family there. Even writing this makes my heart ache to be there. I love everything about Costa Rica.
The children in Africa need help. I want to travel there and help them! Not just the children, but all the people. I have a desire to meet these adorable children and these humble people, and to work towards helping to better their lives. I can’t tell you how wonderful of an experience that’ll be.
As you can see, I dream big. I set my sights high and I want to be able to see and do so much before my time here is through. Hopefully one day, Tanner and I will be able to serve a couples mission together, and to travel somewhere foreign to not only take pleasure in the beautiful sights and new cultures, but also to take pleasure in helping others get the life they have only ever dreamed of. There is so much to be seen in the world, and so much to help with to help make this world a better place. I am determined to be a part of it.
