I’ll never forget that fast and testimony meeting; the day that I sunk so low and turned so red in sacrament meeting all thanks to my kid sister Susy. Let’s take you back to the beginning.
The previous night, I had come home and everyone was already in their bedrooms. I went in and gave my mom and dad kisses and hugs, and proceeded to make the walk down the long hallway to my room. You should know, I’m seriously scared of the dark, and was even more so scared of it at the time this story was written. At the end of the hallway from my parents’ corner of the house, to my bedroom hall, on our kitchen wall there is a laser sensor. It comes on in the dark; it’s just a little red light. Well, I followed the red light because all the other lights were out and I was terrified. Stupid me. I knew that the red light was directly on a wall, and I ran full speed ahead following the light, a little too literally. I ran right into it so hard! I hit the wall and fell backwards. I quickly scrambled up moaning and groaning and jumped through the hallway into my room. Susy was there. She asked me, “Lindsay are you crying?”
“Yes,” I moaned still recovering from the wall that didn’t move out of my way. How dare it stay where it always was!
“What happened?”
“I ran into a wall,” I replied.
At this we both burst out loud with laughter! My life was a riot and we both knew it all thanks to my clumsiness.
I thought that was that but boy was I wrong. The next day at fast and testimony meeting, Susy walked up. My interest perked, as I wanted to see what she as going to say. She started out and said, “Lately, I’ve been trying to be like Jesus. Last night, Lindsay came into her room crying and so I asked her what was wrong. She said she had just ran into a wall full speed!”
I’m pretty sure I shrunk about a good foot down into the pew as the congregation all laughed and chuckled at this sweet, adorable girl’s innocence of sharing perhaps my most humiliating moment. Needless to say, it was still pretty dang cute of her.
After sacrament, I had lots of people come up and ask if I wanted help walking to class so that I avoided walls. I was a good sport and laughed along, because let’s be honest, how can you not? The story is pretty hilarious. And because of that, I never heard the end of it.
