If I Were Famous

If it were five years ago, I would have guaranteed you that one day I would be a famous singer. But, I am not, and it’s been five years. So for now it’s just a goal, a dream really. I fanaticize about it sometimes. Not in a weird way, but about how my life would be different and what I would do if this opportunity ever came my way. Nowadays you hear about all these people becoming famous off of Myspace and whatever other random social media outlet such as YouTube. So you’d figure I have a chance, but that hasn’t been the case.
Before my time here is through though, I have to be able to audition for American Idol, even f I don’t make it past the first round. Why? It has been my dream for as long as I can remember.
If I were famous I think about the good I can do. I think about the excess money I could donate to charities and those who are struggling. I saw this video today for a class I’m taking, and it made me cry. And not just a few tears here and there, but literally bawl like a little baby. It was of these children in the Dominican Republic who’s parents had abandoned them. They were some happy kids yet they had absolutely nothing. A few boxes came to them from the church, and it was like Christmas. One kid said he had wanted new clothes forever because he had never had any really, and another wanted a soccer ball. I cried at the simple innocence and pleasures these children enjoyed. If I were famous, I would donate lots of money to children like them who so deserve yet who are lacking in things they need.
If I were famous I’d make sure that everyone knew about the church. Not that I would go out and harass people about it, of course not. But I would make it known that I was a member and live up to my covenants even if I were famous. I would wear modest outfits, and I would show the world the fabulous marriage I have with Tanner and I would let them know that God loves them. My music would be clean, pure, and from the heart. I would focus as an artist on building people up and helping people see their self worth and believing in God, through my music.
If I were famous, I’d vow to make this world a better place.
